AICUF Day 2015

AICUF Day 2015
On March 9 2015 in Loyola Hall, St. Joseph's College, Bangalore, AICUF DAY 2015 observed with pompous celebration and distribution of certificates to deserving AICUFers for their commitment and dedication during the academic year 2014-2015. Mr. P V Peter, AICUF Karnataka Staff Animator, was the Chief Guest of the day. Mr.  Jude Judeson, Vice-President of AICUF Karnataka & President of AICUF St. Joseph's Evening College, was Guest of Honour. He also distributed certificates for the AICUFers.  It was also a day to thank God for all the blessings received during the year and to give fare well to the senior AICUFers.

P V Joseph Buan Sing, President AICUF SJC, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to God, to the college, to the AICUFers and all the people the AICUFers had met and encountered at various places for all the experiences that the AICUFers had had in the past three years. The day ended with a refreshment with "Frooti" juice and samosa.

Visit to the High Court of Karnataka

Visit to the High Court of Karnataka
For the first time, in the history of St. Joseph's College, 47 AICUFers visited the High Court of Karnataka, situated opposite to Vidhana Saudha, Bangalore, Cubbon Park. It was through the help of a lawyer and Jesuit priest Praveen Hrudayaraj, that the AICUFers got the permission. AICUFers are really grateful to him. The AICUFers were divided into groups and attended the legal case sessions held in different court rooms. It was on 27 February 2015.

Visit to Bangalore Central Jail

Visit to Bangalore Central Jail
It was a remarkable day in the history of St. Joseph's College. On 24th February 2015, 51 AICUFers along with Dr. Fr. Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, and Dr. Melwin Colaco, AICUF Staff Animator, visited the Bangalore Central Jail. All the AICUFers went by a college bus of St. Joseph's PU College and our own College car. Inside the bus, the AICUFers had singing and they also played many games such as housie-housie. The AICUFers reached the destination at 3:45 pm. They were taken to see the facilities available in the jail such as the printing press, carpentry, bakery, iron works, library, kitchen, play grounds and so on. The women AICUFers had the privilege to visit the Women Cell in the jail. The AICUFers also got the opportunity to perform 10 minutes of cultural programme for the jail inmates. After having gone rounds, the Chief Superintendent of the Jail, addressed the AICUFers and gave tea and cake (prepared by the inmates). At 6:45 pm, the AICUFers left the place and headed back to the college.

The AICUF Unit in St. Joseph's College was restarted in 2012. After its second birth, the AICUF Unit of St. Joseph's College, bagged the second time the trophy of the BEST AICUF UNIT of the YEAR among the 46 AICUF units of Karnataka. The first was 2013-2014 & now 2014-2015 BEST AICUF UNIT of the YEAR.  Proud of you all the AICUFers!!

 P V Joseph Buan Sing , III Yr BSW, President & Founding Member of AICUF SJC, was awarded the "Best AICUFer of Karnataka State for the Year 2014-2015" among the AICUFers from 46 AICUF units of Karnataka. Congratulations to him!

AICUF Youth Conclave 2015

AICUF Youth Conclave 2015

St. Joseph's College was the host of AICUF Youth Conclave 2015. More than 250 AICUFers from different parts of Karnataka participated in this mega-event. It was jointly organized by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute for Youth Development, UGC Scheme. There were more than 110 AICUFers of St. Joseph's College. 

Day 1: Holy Mass was offered by Fr. Dr. Praveen Martis SJ, Principal of St. Joseph' s College. AICUF SJC led the choir. It was followed by a talk on Tibetan issue by Mr. Karma. In the afternoon, there was a short presentation on the history of AICUF by Mr. Prashant Kumar and Mr. John Devaraj spoke on the Dalits. There were Dutch ball and tug-of-war among the 10 groups. In the evening, there was "Bamboo Dance" and Mr. Josiah Ralte, spoke on the Northeast India issues. The day ended with a prayer by  P V Joseph Buan Sing . 

Day 2: An inter-religious prayer organized by  P V Joseph Buan Sing  on "Newspaper Prayer". The 10 groups were given a topic on social issue such "Child Labour", "Refugees" "Dalits" "Media and Power" "Environment" "Women" etc.. and they made flags, baskets, rangooli and painting on the tin-sheet. In the afternoon, there were games and practice of march-past. Fr. Brian Pereira SJ, AICUF Karnataka State Advisor, offered the Holy Mass in the college chapel. The angelic choir was led by the AICUF SJC. The day ended with a prayer by  P V Joseph Buan Sing , in Xavier hall. 

Day 3: The creative march-past by the 10 different groups was amazing. The Republic Day ceremony was held at PG Centre. It was followed group dance competition on "AICUF Dance" and then quiz on "AICUF". Ms. Akkai Padmashali, a transgender activist, spoke on sexual minorities. Fr. Brian SJ, conducted the feedback session and then the Youth Conclave ended with prize distribution of Groups, Best AICUFer of the Year 2014-2015, Best AICUF Staff Animator of the Year 2014-2015 and Best AICUF Unit 2014-2015. 

AICUFers of St. Joseph's College did wonderful works in "Registration", Choir, arrangement of accommodation are just a few to be mentioned. Hats off to  Fr. Brian Pereira SJ, AICUF Karnataka State Advisor Mr. P V Peter, AICUF Karnataka Staff Animator, and Dr. CB Isaac, Program Coordinator of Ashirvad Youth Apostolate, for the success of AICUF Youth Conclave 2015.

New Year Celebration with Visually Challenged People

On 4th January 2015, the AICUFers joined "The Project Vision" in celebrating the New Year 2015 in St. Joseph's College Auditorium Basement. There were more than 250 visually challenged people from different parts of the City. For AICUFers, it was the first kind and unique celebration.
