Cancer Awareness Programme


On 26th September 2014, a team of medical experts from Cancer Care Foundation, organized cancer awareness programme in Xavier hall, St. Joseph’s College. There were 78 AICUFers. The programme imparted the causes and effects of cancer. It also included remedial steps to prevent it. The AICUFers were truly enlightened by the programme and determined to be messengers of creating awareness on cancer.

Being With Differently Abled Children

On 19th September 2014, the AICUFers of St. Joseph’s College, invited 17 differently abled children from Baldwin Opportunity School, Richmond Road, to the college. In Loyola hall, they had an interactive programme for the children with various games and action songs for them. 



Josephites Blind Walk

On 17th September 2014, the AICUF of St. Joseph’s College, organized “Josephites Blind Walk.” This event was held to bring about a social change among the students and create awareness and support the cause of eye donation. More than 130 students participated. They were led by six visually challenged of the college itself. They walked from the quadrangle across the college and returned to the quadrangle. After the walk, two of the visually challenged students sang and played keyboard.

 N. Shreyas, (I Yr BA), blind student, said, “At St. Joseph’s College nobody is isolated, we are one family, we don’t want sympathy rather we want empathy from people.”

Fr. Brian Pereira SJ, Rector of the college & AICUF Karnataka State Advisor,  showed solidarity with the cause and shared how different he felt about such events that happen on the campus and that this experience inspires the students grow for the better.

‘Black Sunday’ observed to offer solidarity for Christians in Iran & Iraq
A protest rally was held on September 14, 2014 from St Patrick’s Church on Brigade Road at 2:30 p.m. to the St Joseph’s Indian School ground at Vittal Malaya road.
The day was observed as ‘Black Sunday’ to express solidarity with the persecuted Christians and other minorities in Iraq, Syria and some African countries.
More than 300 AICUFers from different units of Bangalore actively participated in the rally.
It was organised under the joint banner of the All Karnataka United Christians Forum for Human Rights (AKUCFHR) and the Federation of Karnataka Catholics and Christians Associations (FKCCA). 








Talk on Environment

Talk on Environment
 On 30th August 2014, 27 AICUFers of St. Joseph’s College, attended a talk by Dr. Vandana Shiva, a well-known environmentalist. She challenged the audience to be “true stewards of the creation.”

Her inspirational talk inspired the AICUFers to be the care-takers of the environment. The talk was organized by the Department of Social Work of St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore. There were many students and staff from different colleges of the city who attended the talk.
