On 17th September 2014, the AICUF of St. Joseph’s
College, organized “Josephites Blind Walk.” This event was held to bring
about a social change among the students and create awareness and support the
cause of eye donation. More than 130 students participated. They were
led by six visually challenged of the college itself. They walked from the
quadrangle across the college and returned to the quadrangle. After the walk,
two of the visually challenged students sang and played keyboard.
N. Shreyas,
(I Yr BA), blind student, said, “At St. Joseph’s College nobody is isolated, we are one
family, we don’t want sympathy rather we want empathy from people.”
Fr. Brian Pereira SJ, Rector of the college
& AICUF Karnataka State Advisor, showed solidarity with the cause and shared how different he
felt about such events that happen on the campus and that this experience
inspires the students grow for the better.
