Ignatian Week 2.0 (2013)

          22nd to 31st July 2013: The AICUFers celebrated the second year anniversary of the Ignatian Week 2.0 with various events. The whole week is dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus or the Jesuits.

On 22nd July: Fr. Clarence D' Souza SJ, Vice-Principal of Humanities Block, inaguarated the Ignatian Week 2.0 at the college quadrangle. He spoke about St. Ignatius of Loyola and one of the mission objectives of the Jesuit education i.e., "Forming Men and Women for Ohters."  After the inaugural speech, the angelic AICUF choir conducted by Sch. Sainborlang Marwein SJ, II Yr BA (EPS) sang the hymn "Exalt". P V Peter, II Yr M Sc (Computers), led the AICUF band with the famous gospel songs and some of their compositions. Indeed, the band was the first musical band to rock the College banyan tree in 2013. Food stalls were set up. The stalls had South-Indian, Northeast Indian, Chinese and Tibetan cuisines filled with delicious food.

On 23rd July: The college street dance troupe showcased their maiden performance in the college. Right after the dance, the AICUFers enacted a skit on the "Life of St. Ignatius of Loyola", directed by Navya Lawrence, III Yr BA (IES).

On 24th July: The third day began with a cultural dance of the North Eastern tribes. The dance was a fusion of the dance steps taken from different tribes of the north east region. Florit Shimray, I Yr BA (EPS) and Nakhai, II Yr BA (EPS) choreographed the dance. Joshua Rajan, I Yr B Sc (CBBT) and team performed gospel choreography. The Jesuit Scholastics studying in the college organized a book exhibition on some of the famous books of the Jesuits like the "Spiritual Exercises" "The Constitutions of the Society of Jesus" and many biographies of the Jesuits.

On the 25th July: Sch. P V Joseph Mang Pu SJ, II Yr BSW, conducted a quiz on St. Ignatius of Loyola and the Jesuits, in AV room of the Humanities Block. It was an informative quiz for the participants to that enabled them to know more about the Jesuits. After the quiz, Fr. Frederick D'Silva SJ, Socius to Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit, spoke on the Saint and the Jesuits to a group of 80 students.

On 31st July: The feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola was solemnly celebrated in Xavier hall. Fr. Stanislaus D'Souza SJ was the main celebrant. The AICUFers took charge of decorating the hall and arrangement for the Mass. The AICUF choir led the choir.
For all these events, the AICUFers were successful in drawing out a huge crowd and making the celebrations a grand achievement.
