1st to
4th November 2013: The much awaited MAGIS 2013 was held in Bangalore at St.
Joseph’s Boys’ High School around 40 participants from our college rendered
service as volunteers even for the week before the event for the preparation.
On
the first day, the AICUF choir of our college led the choir during the
inaugural Mass. It was the formal inauguration of Magis followed by a Bamboo
dance by our AICUFers. A spot quiz was held and the participants were briefed
by Fr. Brian Pereira SJ on world
Youth day and Magis at the international level. Later the participants were
divided into 16 groups.
On
the second day, each group was sent out for experience trip in Bangalore. These
include visits to orphanages, old age homes, and mental asylums and many other.
On
the third day the students were sent for eco-drive. Each group was given a
specific traffic signal to show placards in order to spread awareness on the
protection and conservation of the environment, mainly dealing with noise
pollution as it was Diwali time.
On the last day, the flash-mob of the
participants dancing to the tune of Magis theme song “WONDER” was recorded. It
was followed by each group sharing their experience along with a cultural show.
Magis was an enriching experience that gave the participants moments to reflect
on certain truths of life and trained them to be active citizens of India.
